Nana comes to play!

Nana came to play today! YIPPIE! The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we decided to play in the pool again. Ada and Emmet are both so cute with their Nana, you can tell they just love her to pieces. Emmet is particularly affectionate with Nana...he likes to give her kisses and snuggles and the most charming smiles. Ada loves engaging Nana in songs and books...she knows Nana can't resist. Tonight when it was time for her to go Nana set Ada down and Ada proceeded to whine and reach up for Nana as if to say, "Don't go Nana, not yet". So cute. Nana does so much for us, we could never thank her enough.

Emmet enjoyed exploring rocks with Nana.

Ada walking pics...as promised

I was able to snap a few pics today of Ms. Ada walking away, which is literally all she does when she's awake. She's wearing a path in our carpet!

This morning Ada was intent on walking with a wooden spoon. With all of her practicing her balance has gotten quite good. She's gaining confidence enough to walk with objects, while clapping or patting her legs and singing. She even walked in the bumpy, grassy, uneven yard today.

Tonight she decided to try walking with a shirt on her head. She is a nut! She loved that I was laughing at her and just continued walking around with the shirt on her head.

Father's Day pics

Father's Day was pretty low key this year, that is until after Ada and Emmet's second nap when we tried out the kiddie pool and squirt guns Daddy brought home from Target the other day. Ada LOVED splashing in the pool with Grandpa, Daddy and Emmet. Emmet loved it for a short while and then wanted to get out to play in the yard with the dog and the hose. He got the biggest kick out the cold water coming out of the hose until he got a mouth full! After the babies were in bed Grandpa, Julie, Greg, Gina, Daddy and I had a wonderful steak dinner. YUM! It was quite the day! Roger has done such a wonderful job being a "Stay At Home Dad" this year. I know he's happy that I'm home for the summer so he can have a little bit of a break but he loves it all the same. I couldn't ask for a better husband and father for my children!

More Father's Day pics

Trying to get a family picture with only two participants who are willing to sit still for seconds is next to impossible. Here is what we came up with. Thanks Grandpa for capturing the moment!

Ada is walking

It's official...Ada is a walker. She's been walking between people, objects and small distances but as of this past Monday she's a walkin' girl and that's all she wants to do lately too. By Wednesday she figured out how to stand up all by herself (no assistance from nearby object or adult) and she's been non-stop ever since. She just loves it! Do you think I've captured a decent picture yet? Nope. So, this post is to be continued.....

Emmet's newest creation

I had to post this latest creation of Emmet's. He continues to love stacking and continues to make his towers taller and taller.

Trip to the zoo

A couple of weekends ago we made our first trip to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and we met Nana and Pops there. It was BUSY of course. Ada spent the afternoon pointing at everything. Emmet was a little more subtle but he was taking everything in. We got to hear a lion roar and quickly realized it was a mating roar. We visited the goats at the petting zoo section and watched daddy feed the goats while one attempted to eat Emmet's shoes. We also enjoyed some ice cream treats before A & E had had enough. What a day!

Shades

For Easter Nana gave A & E some sun glasses. They love them except for whatever reason Ada preferred Emmet's pair. I found a pair that are more similar to Emmet's and she absolutely loves them. We went to Target today and she wore them the whole time we were shopping and in the car on the way there and on the way back. What a nut!

What fun!

Ada was trying so hard to get herself in the chair.

After a little bit of help she was vrey proud.

Emmet showing off his silly side again!

Who knew that highchairs sitting on the floor could provide 30 minutes of entertainment? I was cleaning the highchairs today and set them on the floor to clean the chairs they sit on when Ada and Emmet discovered them. They seriously played with them for 30 minutes, which provided me with some extra time to clean up the kitchen. Yahoo!

A gift from Nana

Emmet being silly while sitting on our new toy

Nana brought the babes a new toy to play with yesterday. We have one walker toy, which Ada just loves right now and will completely melt down if Emmet so much as glances at it. So, Nana brought us another one. This one can be used as a riding toy and I walker. Ada of course claimed this one as her own too. She's so close to walking on her own but really enjoys the stability the walker gives her. Emmet needs assistance to use the walkers but he's getting better and stronger every day!

Quick update...

Took Emmet to the doctor on Thursday. His poor eyes have been bloodshot and itchy for about 5 days, but no drainage. Doc says it's rare to have someone so young have seasonal type allergies. She thinks it is probably just a viral thing. We did get some antibiotic drops to try. If they work, it was a bacterial infection, if not it's viral. Poor little guy. I also gave her a quick update on Emmet's progress and my concerns. She said that if there's no change when we see her in a month for their 15 month check-up she will be referring him to the Birth to Three Program for evaluation and intervention. Sigh....

And look out folks!!! Ada is on the verge of walking. She made several laps around the living room tonight and back and forth from the kitchen. She looks a bit like a drunken sailor and I am the paranoid first time mommy that follows her around to save her from sharp edges and nasty falls. She's so excited!

That's all for now...my bed is calling for me!
